Mersea Island Sea ScoutsThe Scout section known as a "Troop" is for boys and girls, usually aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person may be able to join a Scout Troop from aged 10 and stay until they are 14½ years with the agreement of the leader team and where it fits best with the young person's needs and development.
Mersea has two Scout troops, one is known as Land Scouts and one is Sea Scouts. Both sections are involved in traditional scouting activities and whilst the Land Scouts have water activities in their programme, the Sea Scouts focus a lot more on these. All Scouts are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities working towards activity and challenge badges and #skillsforlife. They spend a lot of time outdoors and focus on water activity on both sea and inland waters. However, they also practice traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of activities and fun available through Scouting. The Scout Group has flexibility to work with young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities. |
Sea Scouts on Mersea meet on Thursday evenings. f you would like your son or daughter to come and try Sea Scouts....
